Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo available now on PC, PSN, XBL

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning has a dream team of sorts working on it, with names like Ken Rolston (lead designer of Morrowind and Oblivion), fantasy author R.A. Salvatore, and Todd McFarlane, among other talent.

We’ll have to wait until February 7 to see whether or not all of that talent went to waste or not, but now we can at least get a taste of what’s in store for us. EA has released a Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo on all of the platforms the full game will be available on, which includes PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The Xbox 360 version is only available to Gold subscribers for now, but Silver accounts should be able to download it about a week later. If you own a PC or PlayStation 3, on the other hand, you can get to downloading the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo right away on Steam and the PlayStation Store, respectively.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is, for the unaware, a fantasy RPG with combat that is more akin to God of War and Devil May Cry than other action RPGs. There’s said to be four classes with three class trees, each with their own unique playstyle.

If you needed another reason to download the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo aside from curiosity, everyone who plays the demo will receive two items in Mass Effect 3: the Reckoner Knight armor and the Chakram Launcher weapon. Similarly, when the demo for Mass Effect 3 releases you’ll receive two items for use in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
