Fans can watch the Chelsea vs. Aston Villa match live online and see one team looking to hold onto the top spot and another hoping to avoid relegation.
Chelsea is leading the league with 53 points and is looking to increase that with a win over bottom-dwelling Aston Villa. The Aston Villa squad is hovering just two points out of the relegation zone and is hoping to get a boost from the return of its captain in Saturday’s matchup.
The match kicks off at 3 p.m. local time from Villa Park.
Fans who watch the Chelsea vs. Aston Villa match may expect to see a one-sided contest, but Villa may have a bit of an advantage with the return of Ron Vlaar. He has been out since suffering a knee injury against Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day, but now is set to return.
Christian Benteke, who has just two league goals after returning from a ruptured Achilles in October, is also looking to turn around his season and has been watching game film to see where he can be more aggressive.
“He is not naive, he knows what’s going on. The big thing is to help him and help the team get him back to where he was,” said coach Paul Lambert. “He could well be (watching videos at home), but we have sat with him as staff and showed him things he can improve on.”
Though Chelsea comes into the match as big favorites, they are vowing not to overlook Villa. Midfielder Nemanja Matic said despite Villa’s scoring troubles — they have no wins in their last eight league matches, and just one goal during that stretch — Chelsea will be coming in aggressively.
“We know that Aston Villa, especially at home, will be a very difficult team to play against,” he said. “But we have to win. We have to stay in the first position and we will do everything we can to win. I repeat, we know that they are good, but we want to stay with a minimum five-point lead against City.”
