Man Leaves Granddaughter, 6, At Spa As Collateral – And Still Hasn’t Picked Her Up After One Month

A 6-year-old girl was left behind as collateral at a spa after her grandfather, who claimed to have left his wallet, went to get money for a massage. Fast forward one month later, and little Siyao is still waiting at the bath house for her grandpa.

With the child in tow, the unidentified man arrived at the spa in the city of Kunming, and requested a good wash in a bath tub, followed by a relaxing massage.

When it was over he said he’d left his money at home but would get it and return quickly.

“He told the reception that he would leave his granddaughter Siyao behind as proof that he intended to return,” bath manager Mee Wang explained.

New York Post reports that as the hours passed, there was no sign of the man. And pretty soon, the staff realized the cruel grandfather had chosen to leave the child behind rather than coughing up the cash.

Once word spread about Siyao being abandoned, local media tried reaching out to her grandfather to ask him to come forward, but to no avail. Before they knew it, more than a month had passed and the young girl was still living in the Yunan province bath house.

Fortunately, Siyao became good friends with some of the staff, who sees to it that she has somewhere to sleep overnight when the center is closed – they even arrange for a TV to be left on in case she feels lonely or scared.

The kind-hearted staff also feeds and clothes the child, who is free to take advantage of the bath house facilities.

After the story was published in local media appealing for the grandfather to come forward, many people also contacted social services and urged them to intervene, although at the moment she is still lodged at the bathing house.

Many cities in China have bathing houses where residents who do not possibly have central heating or running water at home go to get clean, relax and have a foot or body massage.
