Nick Gordon Update: Cops Seize His Cell Phone, Houston Family Has Restraining Order Against Gordon

As the sad news breaks via TMZ that doctors are reportedly telling Bobby Brown to let Bobbi Kristina go and consider taking her off of life support, more information about Nick Gordon — the man whom Bobbi Kristina said was her husband — is also leaking out to the press.

First off, a source told Radar Online that police investigators early on seized Nick Gordon’s cell phone shortly after Bobbi Kristina Brown was found face down in the bathtub and was rushed to the hospital. The engagement or martial status of Nick Gordon and the 21-year-old daughter of Whitney Houston still isn’t clear at this point, and more reports about who actually found Bobbi Kristina in the bathtub are also being questioned.

The fact that police examined Nick Gordon’s phone, according to HLN?, might seem like a tactic that points nefarious fingers at Gordon’s motives or involvement in the tragedy. However, other experts say the confiscation of Nick Gordon’s cell phone is simply standard procedures in the investigation of a tragedy like this one.

As reported by the Inquisitr, Nick Gordon was a 12-year-old when Houston brought him under her wing and roof to raise Gordon and Bobbi Kristina as siblings. Over the years, however, the union between Nick and Bobbi Kristina grew more controversial as they became a romantically involved couple and claimed to be married — a claim that has been disputed by both Bobby Brown and their family lawyer. Family members have been quoted as saying they told Bobbi Kristina she couldn’t use her monthly inheritance allowance to buy Nick’s love.

Now we learn that the Houston Family had a restraining order against Nick Gordon, reports People Magazine. The publication reports that the restraining order against Nick came about in 2014, after years of tension between Gordon and the Houston family. The 25-year- old Gordon was the subject of a temporary protective order filed by 54-year-old Marion “Pat” Houston, the wife of Whitney’s brother, Gary.

“[Nick Gordon] made threatening comments and posted photos of guns with the intention of making petitioner fearful for her personal safety. [Nick Gordon] then posted more photos of guns later and has sent harassing texts. [Nick Gordon and Bobbi Kristina] are not pleased with Marion controlling Whitney Houston’s estate. Marion informed me that Mr. Gordon wants Ms. Brown’s monthly allowance increased. Marion refused to relinquish the money. Marion stated that Mr. Gordon has turned Krissy against the family and in the process has said threatening statements to Marion and other family members.”

Police examined Nick Gordon’s Twitter feed and decided not to investigate further at that point in March of 2014, but it was recommended Gordon seek counseling or psychiatric help. Nick Gordon was forbidden to contact the Houston family for one year via the one-year long protective order issued.

Family members have questioned Nick’s relationship with Bobbi Kristina even before the duo went public with their love in 2012, amid much controversy.

“[Nick Gordon] is one of the only people who can actually get through to her sometimes, and I think he sometimes uses that to his advantage. He has the ability to influence her. He was traveling around the world with [Whitney and Bobbi Kristina] and I didn’t like it. Whitney perhaps didn’t see [the relationship with Bobbi Kristina] for what it was.”
