‘Sports Illustrated’ Unveils Sexy Historic Plus-Sized Ad

Sports Illustrated is known for parading scantily clad women on the pages of its swimwear issue, but now the magazine is making news for its historic plus-sized ad.

Ashley Graham will be the very first plus-sized model featured in an ad in the Sports’ Illustrated annual swimwear issue, making history.

In a statement on USA Today, Graham said, “I know my curves are sexy and I want everyone to know that theirs are too. This is no reason to hide and every reason to flaunt. The world is ready for more curves in bikinis.”

Graham is featured in the ad for the Swim Sexy bikini line for sizes 10 through 34. The tagline for the ad campaign says it all, “You’ve Got It. Flaunt It.”

Graham has no problem flaunting it either. The plus-sized model has been modeling since she was 12-years-old when she was discovered in a mall in her native Lincoln, Nebraska.

The 27-year-old plus Graham has been featured in Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, and Latina.

According to US Magazine, Graham recently “slammed Hollywood for using Jennifer Lawrence as a curvy girl role model.”

This size 16 plus-sized model wants everyone to understand that it’s not about size, it’s more important how you feel about yourself.

Graham commented, “There needs to be more education in schools, because that’s where eating disorders start. It’s not just about being healthy; it’s also about loving who you are.”

So how are people responding to this historic plus-sized ad? The response has been positive. The bikini line and model are working to “go full throttle with a social media campaign, tagged #CurvesinBikinis, to show their curvy girl pride.”

The CEO and President of the bikini line, Moshe Laniado, stated, “Tastes and body types change over time and curves have never been more ‘in’ There is no better way to celebrate and show off than by donning a bikini.”

The annual swimsuit of Sports Illustrated‘s swimsuit issue featuring the historic plus-sized ad will be available on newsstands on February 9.
