‘The Sims 4’: Expansion Pack ‘Get To Work’ Lets You Control Your Sims As They Work

An expansion pack for The Sims 4 is on its way. Titled Get To Work, the new add-on will allow players to take direct control of their Sim characters while they are working, according to a report on PC Gamer. Normally on a Sims game, players control their characters while they’re at home or socialising, but are unseen when they go to work.

Get To Work will change all that in The Sims 4 when the expansion pack launches this April on PC and Mac for $39.99.

The add-on will also bring a host of new careers for your avatars to specialise in. According to Polygon, Sims will be able to take on professions in, “medicine, police work, science and retail.”

As a result, new venues will be added to The Sims 4, such as hospitals, police stations and science labs. Players will also be able to create their own retail business where they will be able to build their own store and even hire employees.

If that wasn’t enough, Get To Work will also add two new skills to the game: baking and photography. EA have also said that, in a somewhat bizarre twist, they will be adding alien creatures and will give players the opportunity to see which characters are aliens in disguise.

It wasn’t long ago when news appeared that EA Games would be delaying the launch of their next Sims 4 expansion pack, pushing the date back to somewhere between April and March, 2016.

Get To Work will mark the 15th anniversary of The Sims franchise, which came crashing into our home computers way back in February, 2000. It is widely regarded as one of the most successful video games of all time and has sold more than 175 million copies worldwide since being launched a decade and a half ago.

The concept for the game originated when designer Will Wright lost his home in 1991 due to a firestorm and had to rebuild his life from scratch. This tragic event made him think about how he could turn it into a video game and with the success of the SimCity series, Wright’s idea took off.

The Sims 4: Get To Work is proof that the franchise is far from over and that the game is able to let gamers explorer the world of The Sims in new ways.
