‘Girl Meets World’ Season Two Spoilers: Angela, Shawn’s Dad To Appear

Girl Meets World is the hit Disney Channel spin-off from the loved 90s series, Boy Meets World. Just as the original show connected to audiences with their poignant story lines, the reboot does the same thing, but it also throws in a pinch of nostalgia for fans of the original show.

Rowan Blanchard plays Riley Matthews, daughter of Cory and Topanga. An entire generation looked up to the relationship of Cory and Topanga, and now they have the opportunity to watch their marriage play out as well as watch their daughter grow up learning the same kinds of lessons that Cory learned on Boy Meets World. Riley is, without a doubt, down-to-earth and always does the right thing, much like her parents, but there is also a Shawn Hunter-type character for Riley.

Sabrina Carpenter plays Maya Hart, a troubled young girl who is lucky to have a friend like Riley. Maya is often getting into trouble, but Riley is always there to help her out of any situation and offer her guidance, much like Cory did for Shawn on Boy Meets World.

The first season of Girl Meets World saw a few familiar faces from the original show, including Stuart Minkus (Lee Norris) and Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong). However, as previously reported by the Inquisitr, the second season will bring on even more fan favorites, including Cory’s brother Eric (Will Friedle) and, of course, the much loved Mr. Feeny (William Daniels). It was reported that a “mystery character” would return, leading some fans to suspect that Mr. Turner may make an appearance. While his return has not been confirmed for Season 2, a new report from ET Online reveals that two other fan favorites will be returning for the second season.

Trina McGee played Angela, Shawn Hunter’s love interest. Fans were rooting for the two to get married, but the Boy Meets World series finale showed Angela leaving for Europe to spend time with her father, who was in the military. While Shawn Hunter has appeared on Girl Meets World and was apparently single, the return of Angela has many people hoping that the two will get back together.

Michael Jacobs, creator of both shows, talked about the return of Angela and what it could mean for the one-time couple.

“We know that [Shawn’s] relationship with Angela Moore was a very important relationship to the audience, but we also know something more which is that with Shawn, nothing good ever really happened to him.”

Jacobs continued, saying that Shawn lost so many people in his life and Angela had lost her mother. Because her mother left her, it left Angela with feelings of guilt, making her think she could never be a good wife or parent. He noted, though, that she “cared deeply for Shawn.”

“But then 14 years goes by and the writing staff had some very hard decisions to make, and one of those decisions is what is a two and a half year relationship in high school? How many Cory and Topanga’s are out there?”

Girl Meets Hurricane is the title of the episode that will feature Trina McGee’s return, and will also include Rider Strong back as Shawn Hunter. It will be directed by William Russ, who plays Cory’s dad, Allen Matthews. Interestingly, the episode will also bring back Shawn’s dad, Chet Hunter.

Of course, most Boy Meets World fans may be confused since they know Chet died of a heart attack in Season 6. After his passing, Chet made several more appearances on the show, but typically appeared as a spirit to give guidance to his young troubled son. Considering the episode will include Shawn’s true love, Angela, Blake Clark’s character may return to give love advice to his son.

It is unclear when Girl Meets World Season 2 will air, but it will likely be later this year.
