Lionel Messi Gives First Chelsea Press Conference Following ‘Transfer’

Chelsea fans are clearly enamored with the idea of Lionel Messi transferring to Stamford Bridge.

In fact, the team over at Chelsea Fans Channel are so hopeful that the Barcelona forward might soon move to England that they created a mock first press conference that celebrated his potential transfer to the Blues.

You can watch the amusing clip in its entirety below.

Obviously, the Chelsea Fans Channel are living in a universe where Lionel Messi actually completed his much-muted transfer from the Spanish giants to Jose Mourinho’s team.

This clip was released to the world to coincide with the end of the European transfer window, which came to a halt on Monday evening in the United Kingdom.

And Chelsea Fans Channel’s version of Lionel Messi had a surprisingly vast knowledge of Chelsea’s history. He named the cult figure of Paul Furlong as one of the main reasons for his move to Chelsea, while he also made reference to his rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo and gave his reasons for why he left Barcelona, too.

It’s not like Chelsea didn’t actually splash any cash during the transfer window. They were one of the busiest clubs in the Premier League to do business.

Not only did the Premier League leaders complete the $30 million signature of Juan Cuardrado from Fiorentina, but they also sold Germany’s World Cup-winning forward, Andre Schurrle, to Wolfsburg for around the same fee, too.

However, Chelsea fans are still dreaming that they will one day be able to see Lionel Messi wearing the blue of their club. And rumors that he might actually move to the Premier League to play for either Chelsea or Manchester United continue to persist.

In fact, on Monday the Express reported that Lionel Messi had once again missed training for Barcelona, which they insisted was evidence that he would like to move to one of these clubs.

The aforementioned publication alleged that both Manchester United and Chelsea are currently preparing $300 million deals that they will submit in the summer for the player.

Spanish newspaper AS explained that Barcelona allowed Lionel Messi to miss the training session, which came the day after he inspired Barcelona to a 3-2 victory over Villareal, due to personal reasons.

The paper reported, “Lionel Messi, one of the protagonists of the comeback against Villarreal alongside Neymar and Rafinha, did not train with Barcelona today having been granted permission to miss the session due to personal reasons.”
