‘Star Trek 3’ Cast May Include ‘The One Who Knocks,’ New Female Characters

The Star Trek 3 cast may be growing to include an actor from a hit TV show as the main villain. “The one who knocks” could be the next one to give Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) and his crew a hard time.

After a disappointing reception from fans with Star Trek Into Darkness and its re-imagining of the classic villain Kahn Noonien Singh from The Wrath of Khan, it has been clear that changes needed to be made to bring back the audience. J.J. Abrams left the director’s chair in the hands of Fast and Furious‘ Justin Lin as he moved on to direct Star Wars Episode 7. Now two-time Star Trek veteran Simon Pegg will be taking on more than the engineering deck of the U.S.S. Enterprise as a new co-writer for the film.

The arguably biggest surprise yet could be arriving in the form of Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston joining the Star Trek 3 cast, again taking the role of a villain. Fans are probably hoping he isn’t going to be cast as Christopher Lloyd’s Klingon Commander Kruge from The Search for Spock, letting the story develop a whole new way.

Bryan Cranston has been an actor in high demand ever since the TV series about a crystal meth making high school teacher ended. He starred opposite Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the 2014 remake of Godzilla, and even had minor roles in other films and TV shows. Now his big-screen break-out may be as the main nemesis for Kirk and his crew.

IGN claims that Cranston was the one the writers had in mind when they created the villain for the Star Trek 3 cast.

“Bryan Cranston-like, to the point that Cranston himself has had words with the studio about taking the role. We don’t know just yet if he said yes, or if this is an all-new character or somebody from continuity, but because they’re shooting for Cranston we at least know the filmmakers want to bring the intensity.”

New female characters will also allegedly come into the story, such as Leonard McCoy’s (Karl Urban) ex-wife, the captain of another starship, and the President of the United Federation of Planets. Much about the story for the next Star Trek is not yet known, but it appears they are planning to bring the audience back.

Who do you think will be added to the Star Trek 3 cast? Could Bryan Cranston be the next villain?
