Oh dear, Mariah Carey has been caught out Lip-synching to her her hit single "Fantasy" during her first-ever performance at the 2015 Jazz And Blues Festival in Jamaica. The Mail reports that Mariah disappointed fans on the Caribbean island who had payed upwards of $200 to hear the star belt out her hits. The 44-year-old American mother-of-two was noticeably out of breath and failed to hit the high notes as she appeared to have given up halfway through and let the backing track take over the vocals.
According to the Toronto Sun, Mariah has come under fire by fans who attended the show and by people on social media after a video emerged of her performance which appears to show Carey lip-syncing badly after she missed her cue. Footage of Carey's apparently hilarious lip syncing failure emerged over the weekend.Since the video's publication, many fans accusing Mariah Carey of letting the audience down by lip-syncing badly to a backing track, forgetting the lyrics, and failing to keep in time. Carey's performance has become a major talking point on social media, with many taking to twitter to say that the pop superstar can't even lip synch properly. Others called her rude and a failure. The Mirror report that Mariah Carey hasn't been having the best of times on stage recently with some poor performances over the Christmas period, followed by a lip-synch performance in Jamaica is leading fans to speculate as to what has happened to Carey's once flawless vocals. One Twitter user described the performance as "painful" and another said "The most epic Lip sync fail ever! Mariah, at least TRY to fool somebody!" According to the Mail, Mariah tried to keep her composure while placing her hand by her ear and closing her eyes whilst she mimed the Alto notes, but she missed her cue multiple times. This latest performance comes hot on the heels of a much criticized mimed performance of her holiday hit "All I Want For Christmas Is You" at the annual NBC special Christmas In Rockefeller Center in December.
A recent performance in China was also much criticized. Mariah recently announced that she will be taking a residency at The Colosseum inside Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. She commences an 18-night residency on May 6, but apparently the take up of tickets for the shows has been disappointing. Poor ticket sales have left some upcoming shows with plenty of empty seats.
Whilst Mariah's residency doesn't start for another couple of months early ticket sales have fallen well below expectations. These latest revelations are not likely to her Carey to shift tickets for her gigs. Some of Mariah's fans are even suggesting that it is time for her to take a break and rest up.
