You don’t often hear a nun’s opinion about famous football players, but Sister Lucia Caram recently told the world that Lionel Messi is a “Reflection of God’s Perfection.” Her opinion of Cristiano Ronaldo was rather less positive, however.
Messi has been dubbed the world’s best footballer, but has taken a back seat in the last couple of years while his rival on the Real Madrid team, Ronaldo, has won the Ballon d’Or twice.
Over the years Lionel Messi has received much praise for both his playing style and his personality, and in an interview with the Spanish language publication, Sport, Barcelona supporter Sister Lucia gave him the very highest accolade possible. She said that God’s presence could clearly be seen in Messi’s beautiful playing style every week.
“For me the evidence for the existence of God is manifested in goodness and beauty, and when I see Messi play I see that.”
“One looks entranced, like by a beautiful painting or a sunset, when one faces Messi. I’m not saying he’s God, but he’s a reflection of God’s perfection. He dazzles everyone.”

According to Metro, Sister Lucia was definitely less positive about Cristiano Ronaldo, who she states is arrogant. According to her, Messi’s Real Madrid rival is the exact opposite, almost comparing him to the devil. Ronaldo may have won the 2014 Ballon d’Or, as he is a great player, but Sister Lucia has her own thoughts on his personality.
“Is Messi an angel and Ronaldo the devil? Well Messi has the virtue of being a great player but he is also a good person. He is humble.”
“Cristiano plays football very well, but he has a very cocky and unfriendly attitude. He’s not my greatest enemy, I think he plays very good football, but there is not harmony in him.”
Sister Lucia said that despite his team playing badly in 2014, she praised Messi for being captain of the Argentina team in the World Cup, and of course the player has scored 31 goals in 29 games for Barcelona this season.
Sister Lucia, while originally from Argentina, has spent the last couple of years in Spain and is obviously a great football fan.
In the meantime, the Inquisitr reported recently on the rumors that Lionel Messi was going to transfer away from the Barcelona team, quoting the club’s president as saying he will never be sold by Barcelona.
