The Sims 4 Expansion Pack Delayed

Sad news for fans of The Sims 4. During their recent earnings report, EA Games announced that the next expansion pack for The Sims 4 has been delayed until sometime in fiscal year 2016.

That might not be as bad as it sounds. For EA, fiscal year 2016 begins April 1, 2015, and continues through to March 21, 2016. This means the next expansion pack from Maxis may drop as early as April Fool’s Day, 2015. Neither EA nor Maxis, the EA subsidiary which develops and produces The Sims, have given any details about the next expansion.

This isn’t the first time EA Games and Maxis have delayed a game in The Sims franchise. The Sims 4, originally expected to be a released in Spring 2014, wasn’t released until September, 2014. By contrast, the new game pack, The Sims 4: Outdoor Retreat, was announced and released in a span of roughly two weeks.

The delay comes as EA and Maxis are still struggling to restore fan faith in the Sims series. Longtime fans turned on Maxis after controversies involving the quality of The Sims 4 and the amount of content the game provides. Fans cried foul when the list of features and content missing from The Sims 4 was released. Two of the missing features which drew the most ire from fans, ghosts and swimming pools, were quickly added back to the game through free content updates, yet some fans remain unsatisfied with The Sims 4.
