Sunday night, The Blacklist returns with an explosive episode that will most definitely kick things back into gear as Season 2 resumes. Raymond Reddington is in a tight spot, and Lizzie and her team are facing a potentially deadly situation as well. What Blacklist spoilers are available for the February 1 winter premiere?
According to TV Guide, Sunday’s episode is titled “Luther Braxton” and this is the first part of a two-part episode. After the February 1 return, the show moves to a new Thursday night time slot, where it will remain for the rest of Season 2. Sons of Anarchy star Ron Perlman stars as the villain in this one, and he is clearly quite formidable.
As previous Blacklist spoilers via the Inquisitr note, Braxton has a history with Red, and he is being held in the same black site prison where Reddington is taken. As the new preview via TV Guide shows, Raymond tries to warn his captors that Braxton has a dangerous plan, but they aren’t convinced there’s anything to it.
Unfortunately, as everybody soon discovers, Braxton indeed has a plan and lives are at stake. Braxton is said to be a thief who manages to pull off his plans via very complex methods. He hides his heists within bigger events, like political uprisings or big snowstorms. He wreaks havoc wherever he goes, and this time he’s got his sights set on escaping the black site prison and getting some information.
Ressler will be in danger in this one, as will Liz. Just what is Braxton after and will he manage to get it? Obviously, fans will be left hanging Sunday night, as the “Luther Braxton” episode continues into the February 5 episode.
What about some of the tidbits left hanging in the fall finale? Blacklist spoilers indicate that the Fulcrum will be a big piece of Sunday’s episode. This is a big deal that was teased in the fall as Alan Alda’s character Fitch was killed, and it seems it will be central to the second half of Season 2. Fitch gave Red some information, but not nearly as much as Reddington needs to find the fulcrum and resolve whatever issues surround it.
What about Tom? Liz’s ex-husband won’t be in Sunday’s episode, and he won’t be brought immediately back into the thick of things. However, as was teased via the fall finale, the story regarding Tom is definitely not over and there are still secrets regarding him that are set to be revealed.
Executive producer and show creator Jon Bokenkamp teases via TV Fanatic that Sunday’s episode is carefully designed to make it easy for new viewers to jump onboard, but long-time fans will get quite the thrill as well. It’s shaping up to be a wild episode, and fans will certainly want to ensure that they don’t miss a minute of it.
The Blacklist Season 2 begins again on Sunday, February 1 after Super Bowl XLIX and then moves to a new spot on Thursday nights.
