Belle Knox Video Made Miriam Weeks The ‘Duke Porn Star,’ Now She’s Really Into Rand Paul

The Belle Knox video made real-life Duke University student Miriam Weeks famous as the “Duke porn star,” but now she’s using her x-rated popularity to express her views on politics, especially when it comes to her passion for the Libertarian party and Rand Paul.

In a related report by the Inquisitr, Miriam Weeks’ political viewpoints are interesting, to say the least. It could even be said she’s made a case to make prostitution legal in the United States and she’s also brought attention to the student loan crisis. Politicians usually run for cover when views like that are expressed, but one politician who followed the Bell Knox Twitter account found himself in a bit of trouble.

Conservatives everywhere might be slightly shocked and a little dismayed to find out that the porn star Bell Knox describes herself as belonging to their political end of the spectrum.

“I’m conservative,” Weeks said of her political standing. “I’m very socially liberal, but I’m very economically conservative. I grew up Catholic, so I grew up in a very, very, conservative background and that, I think, really was kind of the impetus for why I wanted to become a libertarian. I was always being told to cover up my body and I was always being told to wait until marriage to have sex, that my body would go down if I didn’t wait till marriage to have sex. That really made me become a libertarian and become a feminist.”

Because of these beliefs, Weeks considers both Ron Paul and his son Rand Paul as two of her personal heroes.

“I totally endorse him,” Weeks said said according to Fox 8. “He actually graduated from Duke, so that’s just another reason for me to love him.”

In a recent phone interview with Business Insider, Weeks discussed how the success of the Belle Knox video series has influenced her libertarian activism on the Duke college campus.

“I think that my work and being in the porn industry definitely hits on so many libertarian themes like free speech, and censorship, and, you know, choice and autonomy over our bodies,” Weeks explained. “So I think that I’ve really become passionate about libertarian issues because of the intersection.”

Although it sounds like her Duke porn star days are being put behind her, now Miriam Weeks is striving to set up a future political career. She has been working for a group called Students for Liberty and she was recently appointed to the national board of directors for the Sex Workers Outreach Project. When she gives speeches she focuses on issues like college tuition costs, decriminalization of the sex industry, feminism, free speech, and government censorship.
