Cristiano Ronaldo To Manchester City Transfer Rumors Emerge

Even more transfer rumors regarding Cristiano Ronaldo have emerged, with some reports even suggesting that the Portuguese forward is wanted by Manchester City.

The Real Madrid forward, who is currently serving a suspension after being sent-off last weekend for slapping and kicking his opponent, has been earmarked by City as one of their prime targets.

According to The Sun, via Bleacher Report, Txiki Begiristain, who is the club’s director of football, has already held preliminary discussions with Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, about a possible move for the current Ballon d’Or holder.

If Cristiano Ronaldo does decide to move to Manchester City it would be a major coup for the north-west side. That’s because Ronaldo is regarded as a Manchester United legend, and it would be a huge shock if Ronaldo decided to desecrate his reputation with Red Devils’ supporters by moving to their closest rivals.

Ronaldo played for Manchester United between 2003 and 2009. He arrived at Old Trafford, after Manchester United paid Sporting Lisbon around $20 million for his services, as a very talented but incredibly raw 18-year-old.

Under the stewardship of manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, and United icons like Paul Scholes, Roy Keane and Ryan Giggs, Ronaldo honed his craft, bulked up his body and evolved into the most talented soccer player in the world.

Along the way, Ronaldo also helped United to a plethora of honors, including the 2008 Champions League and three Premier League titles. He was also awarded the 2008 Ballon d’Or for his efforts at Manchester United. However he always had his heart set on a move to Real Madrid, and in the summer of 2009 they paid a then world record sum of over $130 million to secure his services.

Since then, Ronaldo has blossomed even further. He has not only scored 205 goals in just 183 games for Madrid, but he has also been awarded the 2013 and 2014 Ballon d’Ors because of his imperious form. Plus he led the club to a La Liga title as well as the 2014 Champions League too.

But despite the fact that he’s a Real Madrid player, Cristiano Ronaldo often speaks of his love and adulation for Manchester United. In fact he has even teased that he would consider a return to Old Trafford — where his name is still chanted on a weekly basis — at some point in the future, something that the United faithful pine for.

That’s why it’s impossible to see Ronaldo moving to the blue side of Manchester. However, stranger things have happened in the world of soccer.
