‘The Walking Dead’ Spoilers And Plot Synopses: Familiar Faces, Storms, And A New Lifestyle

The Walking Dead returns on February 8, and the plot synopses for a few upcoming episodes of Season 5 hint that things aren’t going to go so well for Rick’s group during the midseason premiere.

According to Wetpaint, AMC recently gave viewers a big taste of what’s to come by sharing the plot synopses for a few upcoming episodes of The Walking Dead. As the Inquisitr previously reported, the midseason premiere (Episode 9) is titled “What Happened and What’s Going On.” This episode will involve a detour that “may offer the solution that the group has been seeking.” This “solution” is most likely a walled community called Shirewilt Estates, and Noah might lead the group there in search of family. Unfortunately, Noah and Tyreese probably won’t survive their short stay at Shirewilt.

Episode 10 is titled “Them,” and its synopsis is proof that the group’s detour didn’t result in the discovery of a safe haven. It will probably be a slower-paced episode of The Walking Dead that focuses on the group’s struggle to survive without a home base.

“The group feels beaten after living life on the road, but must continue to trudge along in spite of the changes they have incurred.”

Episode 11, “The Distance,” is where things really start to get interesting. According to the synopsis, Rick & Co. will encounter someone who might help them. The group will also have to survive some really bad weather.

“After withstanding a spectacular storm, Rick and the others meet what appears to be a friendly person, but find themselves mistrustful.”

Wetpaint points out that a promo for The Walking Dead shows a scene from the storm. Unfortunately, bad weather doesn’t stop walkers from searching for their next meal, and the group will struggle to keep the undead out of the barn that they’re holed up in.

A Z-storm sounds fun and all, but obviously the most attention-grabbing line in the synopsis is the one that mentions a “friendly face” that the group has a difficult time trusting. It could be a recruiter from the Alexandria Safe-Zone, or it might be Morgan Jones. Morgan was a little off-the-rails the last time Rick encountered him, so the group would have good reason to be wary of his reappearance.

Interestingly, Entertainment Weekly recently reported that The Walking Dead fans will see more than one familiar face during the second half of Season 5.

“Though everything seems bleak right now following Beth’s death, there may be hope on the horizon for Rick & Co. after they set out to find new sanctuary and run into a few familiar faces along the way.”

Morgan Jones is definitely a familiar face, but EW is saying that the group will encounter more than two people they know. Perhaps they’ll run into the Morales family from Season 1 — it’s possible that Morales ended up joining the Alexandria Safe-Zone community somehow. There’s also a chance that the “familiar faces” will be familiar to one or more of the survivors, but not to The Walking Dead viewers. For example, Rick Grimes might run into some old high school acquaintances or neighbors.

The synopsis for Episode 12, “Remember,” indicates that Rick’s group has made it to the Alexandria Safe-Zone, a walled community that’s thriving despite the horrors outside. Luckily, the people inside its walls probably won’t be as clueless as the citizens of Woodbury.

“The group has a difficult time molding to a new lifestyle, forcing them to consider whether they can be the people they once were.”

The Walking Dead promo below features a few of the barn storm scenes, and the house Tyreese and Noah are running toward might be part of Shirewilt Estates.
