Shakira Has Second Child, But Wants At Least Six More

Singer Shakira has officially given birth to her second child.

The Daily Mail reports that the 37-year-old singer welcomed another son into the world with 27-year-old Gerard Pique at a Barcelona hospital via C-section on Thursday.

That makes two kids in nearly two years for Shakira. However, she apparently does not plan on stopping anytime soon. In an April 2014 interview with Latina magazine, according to Us Weekly, the singer admitted that she wants to go far beyond having just two kids.

“I would love to have eight or nine kids with Gerard [Pique] — my own [soccer] team.”

Therefore, the official count (based on that statement) is two kids down and at least six kids to go.

Shakira and Gerard Pique first met when he appeared in the 2010 music video, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).”

Before they got together, Shakira was known for having quite a few male co-stars in her most popular music videos over the years. However, the “Can’t Remember to Forget You” singer is no longer allowed to do so because her longtime boyfriend (and the father of her children) will not allow it.

She discussed Gerard’s territorial behavior and how she felt about it in a March 2014 interview regarding her “Can’t Remember to Forget You” video with Billboard magazine.

“He’s very territorial and… no longer lets me do videos with men… It’s out of the question — which I like, by the way. I like that he protects his turf and he values me.”

Not only does she enjoy being valued by and wants to have more kids with Gerard, Shakira also admitted that she has never been more in love.

“Gerard is just like me, but two meters tall. We’re very alike, it’s not for nothing that we were born on the same day, it’s just that [he] was born 10 years later… he’s a happy guy, healthy here — in the head.”

Shakira even wrote one of her hit songs, “23,” for Gerard Pique.

Before Shakira and Gerard met nearly five years ago, Shakira had ended an 11-year relationship with former boyfriend, Antonio De La Rua. The way their relationship ended was far from amicable. However, Shakira stated in an interview withPrimer Impacto that it was “best to turn the page” even though it was “painful.”
