Justin Bieber Admits To Faking Image? Singer Says He Was Pretending

Justin Bieber has made some pretty interesting comments in a video diary that he shared with fans on Facebook. The video log came to be after he appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show — on which he reportedly behaved awkwardly. USA Today reports that the star appears to want to change his ways, which is apparent since he has apparently apologized for his behavior over the past couple of years. In the video, he directly declares that he has been “pretending” to be someone that he isn’t, and that he wants the public to know that he cares about people.

“I was afraid of what people are thinking about me right now. It’s been a minute since I’ve been on a public appearance, and I didn’t want to come off arrogant or conceited, or basically how I’ve been acting the past year and a half. I’m not who I was pretending to be.”

Perez Hilton shared the Ellen appearance, along with the commentary for which he is known. Of course, he referred to The Biebs as awkward, but he also attributed it to what Justin himself called nervousness with being on television. Justin told Ellen that he isn’t used to being on television, and that he gets nervous in front of people when he’s not performing his music. He’s kind of a mix of both extrovert and introvert — something that Ellen DeGeneres confirmed during his brief appearance on her birthday.

So what exactly has Justin Bieber been pretending about over the past couple of years? Is he referring to his bad-boy image, or his entire personality in general? His video diary let fans (and haters) have a brief inside peek into his feelings, but it was still vague enough to leave people wondering just exactly he’s been faking. If his entire personality has been an exercise in playing pretend, will this have an effect on his relationships with rappers and other “grown-ups” in the music industry?

Bieber’s video diary comes on the heels of reports that reveal he will be the subject of an upcoming Comedy Central Roast. Justin told Ellen that he wanted to do the roast to be held accountable for his actions and to own up to his mistakes. Ellen revealed to Justin that his manager wanted her to roast him on the upcoming show, but she refused because she doesn’t like being mean to people for laughs. So far there is no word on who exactly will be showing up to roast the singer.
