“Baby Obama” is a wanted man in Denver.
Denver police are on the lookout for a robbery suspect who apparently goes by the street name “Baby Obama.” Cops consider him armed and dangerous, and authorities have offered a $2,000 reward for his capture.
He reportedly stands accused of aggravated robbery in an incident last month.
The potential suspect, identified by several media outlets as Zachary Bowyer, 21, allegedly shot someone in the ankle during a December holdup. The victim survived the shooting.
Evidently the nickname took hold because the suspect is considered a Barack Obama lookalike on the street, or at least a younger version of the president, perhaps.
Full details of the encounter are still sketchy inasmuch as they have not as yet been released by authorities. Denver’s 9News reported the following.
The incident happened near the intersection of Osceola Street and Morrison road at around 8:20 p.m. on Dec. 22… Other details about the robbery were sparse.”
The Denver Post added that “Anyone with information on Bowyer’s whereabouts is asked to call police at (720) 913-7867.” Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Denver’s Crime Stoppers by voice or text.
According to city of Denver statistics, there were 1,096 robberies and 2,385 aggravated assaults in Denver in calendar year 2014, roughly equivalent to the previous year, although robberies decreased by 3.3 percent.
As far as crime so far in 2015, a string of armed street robberies have already occurred in Denver in the first month of the new year.
Descriptions of suspects have varied, so investigators are not sure if the robberies are connected. Police are asking residents to be cautious by walking in groups, being discreet with valuables and crossing the street or entering a business if they feel threatened. Residents should report any suspicious activity to police.”
Do you see any resemblance between the man supposedly known as Baby Obama and Barack Obama?
