Benedict Cumberbatch And Sophie Hunter To Marry: Invitations Already Sent

British Actor Benedict Cumberbatch is all set to marry fiancee Sophie Hunter. The Mirror reports that Benedict, the 38-year-old star of Sherlock, is in such a rush to get married that he has sent out the invitations by e-mail. Benedict, who has won an Oscar nomination for his role in The Imitation Game, and 36-year-old theater director Sophie Hunter want to tie the knot before their first child is born early this summer.

The Mail reports that a source close to the actor has told the Sunday Mirror that “The invitations have gone out already, which is very quick. It’s shocked a few people but they want their special day to happen before they have the baby.”

“The details have been sent out in an email rather than a paper invitation as time is of the essence.”

The source told the newspaper: “They’re planning the perfect day. Life couldn’t be much better for them at the moment.”

The invitations have been limited to family and close friends, all of whom have been sworn to secrecy about the location of the ceremony. According to the Express the smart money is on Benedict and Sophie’s nuptials taking place in Edinburgh. Benedict’s future mother-in-law, Katherine, lives in the Scottish capital.

There was speculation that Benedict and Sophie may choose to wed at St Giles Cathedral, after attending a Christmas Day church service there.

Benedict and Sophie have been spotted in Edinburgh several times since their relationship became public last autumn. Sophie was born and brought up in the city.

Benedict and Sophie announced they were expecting a baby just two months after they got engaged and are said to be looking forward to becoming parents for the first time, but say they do not yet know the sex of the baby.

A spokesperson for Benedict said at the time “I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon.”

Benedict Cumberbatch announced that he had Sophie had become engaged in the Times back in November 2014, just five months after the couple were first spotted together whilst watching tennis at Wimbledon.

Benedict and Sophie are believed to be living together in Los Angeles at present as Benedict’s career in Hollywood starts to take off. They are believed to be renting an apartment Venice Beach area. Benedict has been seen in Gloucestershire, England, this week filming a one-off Sherlock special which is to be shown on Christmas or New Year’s Day.
