Ellen DeGeneres Celebrates Birthday With Makeup-Free Portia De Rossi Selfie And New TV Show
Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi couldn’t wait to celebrate Ellen’s 57th birthday together. The cute couple kicked off DeGeneres’ birthday early with a sweet makeup-free selfie, and Ellen has a great gift to look forward to on Monday night — she and Portia can unwind with a glass of wine while they watch Ellen’s new HGTV series.
On Sunday afternoon, Ellen DeGeneres tweeted about her last day as a 56-year-old. She also shared a sweet selfie of herself and Portia de Rossi cuddling on the beach.

Portia shared a similar makeup-free beach selfie. She also pointed out that Ellen’s January 26 birthday happens to fall on Australia Day.

As The Inquistir previously reported, Ellen and Portia took a similar makeup-free selfie to celebrate spending 10 years together. Their relationship reached the decade mark last November.
Ellen DeGeneres told USA Today that she and Portia might celebrate her 57th birthday by throwing a viewing party for her new HGTV show, Ellen’s Design Challenge. The reality competition series airs Monday night at 9 p.m. ET, and DeGeneres plans on live tweeting during its premiere.
Ellen’s ambitious new series is similar to Project Runaway, but the designers on the show don’t make clothes — they create furniture. The winner of the competition will score a $100,000 prize and a feature in HGTV magazine.
“Design is really my true love,” Ellen told USA Today. ” I thought about Fashion Star and Project Runway [and how] there are all these competitions for clothing designers. I love furniture. And I thought, why are we not seeing who’s making the cool new coffee table and these new designs that come out?”
Ellen DeGeneres isn’t just executive producing Ellen’s Design Challenge — she’ll also appear on the show. Based on the way she describes her role, she’ll be the series’ Tim Gunn.
“I would rather be the good aunt who never says anything bad and lets the parents discipline the child. I’d like to come and visit and [have] everybody love me, and then go away. I definitely voice my opinions on what I like best, but I won’t say exactly what happens.”

Ellen’s Design Challenge isn’t DeGeneres’ only upcoming project. The Huffington Post recently shared the trailer for the NBC series that Ellen produced, One Big Happy. The sitcom stars Elisha Cuthbert as a lesbian who decides to have a baby with her straight male BFF (Nick Zano). Things get complicated for the friends when Zano’s character gets married to a beautiful bartender played by busty British babe Kelly Brook. One Big Happy will premiere March 17 at 9:30 ET on NBC, and you can check out a preview for the show below.
