Kendrick Lamar’s New Album Won’t Be Released Next Week Despite Walmart Rumor


Kendrick Lamar’s new album could be released in the next few days. There is no official release date for Kendrick Lamar’s latest album yet, however a photograph has started to do the rounds on the internet that teases his new album could be released on January 27.

The image first appeared on Section Eighty, which is an online music forum. User Besky explained that they had spotted the album’s release date on a coming soon list in Walmart.

However the CEO of TDE, Lamar’s record label, later took to his Twitter account to announce that Walmart had false information.

Kendrick Lamar is set to appear at numerous music festivals over the next few weeks to promote his upcoming album. Kendrick Lamar’s new album is one of the most anticipated of 2015. His third studio album was preceded by the first single from the record. “i” was released on September 23, 2014.

At the moment very little is known about Kendrick Lamar’s new album. Both its title and album cover haven’t even been released. Kendrick Lamar previously performed an untitled song during his appearance on The Colbert Report, however he later admitted to Billboard that it probably wouldn’t feature on his new album.

The 27-year-old first gained notoriety after he signed to Top Dawg Entertainment in 2004, before he signed a joint deal with Aftermath and Interscope Records in 2012.

Kendrick Lamar’s first major-label studio album, good kid, m.A.A.d city, was released on October 22, 2012. It was met with widespread critical acclaim, and it also contained numerous hit singles that were in the Top 40, which included “Swimming Pools (Drank),” “B****, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” and “Poetic Justice.” Before good kid, m.A.A.d city was released, Kendrick Lamar had developed a huge popularity over the internet, which turned him into one of the most popular underground rappers in the U.S.
