One of the biggest names in WWE history dropped a bombshell on the WWE Universe last night after midnight. WWE’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view is in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this evening and Rock posted a tweet that sent the WWE Universe into a tailspin.

Earlier today, the Inquisitr reported that Rock is indeed in Philadelphia, the site for the Royal Rumble. However, there was no confirmation as to what he is doing there. Often, WWE superstars are in the same area while WWE is there. Most of the time, it’s just by pure happenstance.
A huge update came out in the last hour that gives the Rock’s appearance in Philly more stability. According to F4WOnline.com, the Rock is slated to appear during the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
“Word is The Rock will indeed be appearing at the PPV tonight, but there is no word as to what he will be doing on the show.”
“Rumors have been circulating that The Rock might be facing Rusev in a match at WrestleMania 31, but that does not appear to be the case.”
“WrestleMania 31 matches with John Cena and Brock Lesnar have also been rumored for The Rock in the past year, so it will be interesting to see how he’s used tonight.”
The Rock appearing during the Royal Rumble doesn’t guarantee he’ll be in the match and participate. It’s more likely that he will enhance a segment in one way or another. The last time the WWE saw the Rock was in New York, when he came out and interrupted Rusev and Lana. All three of them traded insults until the Rock cleared the ring of Rusev.
WWE wasn’t intending on teasing a match between Rock and Rusev, but “never say never” in professional wrestling. While the Rock is in perfect shape for another ring return, his movie schedule is near-booked for the next couple of years. If he does return, it’ll be similar to the schedule Sting is working right now.
Just like last year, the Royal Rumble is highly anticipated, and not because one legend is making his or her return. Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan alone are causing intrigue among the WWE Universe. Going down the card is interesting enough. How will the WWE World Heavyweight championship match end?
The way WWE booked it gives unlimited possibilities. Seth Rollins could lose and cash in his briefcase, or simply win the strap and not cash in. Brock Lesnar or John Cena could always become victorious, but Rollins has a briefcase for insurance. Either way, this Royal Rumble will go down in the books as one of the best of all-time.
