‘Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel’ Adds Lady Hammerlock As Third DLC, Fourth Gets Weird With ClapTrap

Gearbox Software announced a new playable character for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel during its PAX South panel on Sunday. Meet Sir Hammerlock’s sister, the Baroness. She’s an icy sniper that will be the third DLC pack for the game and will be available this Tuesday. A tease for the fourth and final DLC pack may be of more interest though.

Lady Hammerlock will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on January 27 via those platforms respective online services. The third DLC pack will be sold for $9.99 and is included as part of the $30 Season Pass for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. It will also be part of the upcoming Borderlands: Handsome Collection that was recently announced for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Here is how Gearbox describes Lady Hammerlock’s backstory.

“Aurelia is the heir of the Hammerlock family fortune, but when she’s not riding her hoverbike through the endless hallways of her orbital turbomansion, she’s out hunting the latest and greatest game in the galaxy. If these expeditions should put her in conflict with her younger brother Alistair – aka Sir Hammerlock – all the better. The only thing more fun than shooting a rare animal Alistair intended to study is the look of abject horror and surprise on his face once Aurelia wears its carcass like a jaunty scarf.

“Normally, Lady Hammerlock would never be seen within a light year of Pandora, but she’s grown bored as her turbomansion grows cold, while her lust for violence grows hot. She’s headed to Elpis with nothing more than an expensive gun, an experimental Cryo diadem, and a powerful belief that shooting angry things in the face is a good deal of fun.”

Lady Hammerlock comes with three skill trees – Huntress, Cold Money, and Contractual Astocracy. The first skill tree focuses on sniping with a huge critical hit bonus for landing consecutive shots. The second adds Cryo damage to any weapon. The third essentially makes one of her co-op teammates her servant that gives her bonuses for their kills.

The fourth and final DLC sounds like it will add the first true campaign expansion to Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and it may take a cue from the Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep. Only, we’re going into the mind of Claptrap this time and not the demented little girl’s.

“The fourth and final add-on pack in the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Season Pass will set players off on a brand new campaign set inside the mind of Claptrap,” Gearbox announced. “It may be one of the weirdest things in the Borderlands universe to date, so stay tuned for updates as development progresses!”

Assault on Dragon Keep was considered to be the best DLC pack for Borderlands 2 as it received praise from both critics and fans. If they can replicate the same success with Claptrap, it may make The Handsome Collection even more desirable.
