Avengers: Age of Ultron is still a little over four months away from being released in theaters, but more and more rumors are coming out about what could happen. With the team growing and Ultron causing havoc, there may actually be more in store for the huge summer blockbuster from Marvel. One of those things may be an unannounced female character who plays a big role in the story.
Please let it be known that there are possible spoilers from this point on. If you don't want to know anything more about Avengers: Age of Ultron, then stop reading now.
Schmoes Know reported an as-of-yet unannounced female character could play a very big role in the sequel from Marvel. They state that some details have been revealed and that Joss Whedon even gave up a little information as well.
"The details are this: there's a mystery character who will be introduced in the film and that she is a female. We pretty much heard about that. A while back Joss Whedon commented on the female characters in Age of Ultron, leaving fans with a mystery female character we haven't yet got confirmation about."
A source told Schmoes Know that the character being described is none other than Mantis.
Those who are not comic book savvy may not known who Mantis is, but details of her character actually bring a lot of continuity to the Marvel Movie Universe.
In the comics, Mantis has strong ties to Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Vision -- three characters making their debuts in Avengers: Age of Ultron. She also spent time with the Guardians of the Galaxy, and, therefore, could tie this whole thing together film wise.
That's not even mentioning her ties to a huge villain that is to come.
"This would seem to make a lot of sense as she 1) has direct ties to Thanos, 2) has even stronger ties to Vision, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch, 3) has a personal vendetta in the comics against Klaw and, most importantly 4) has been a prominent member of both The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy."
Speaking of Ulysses Klaw, Collider indicates that is who Andy Serkis will end up playing in the film. It could be a small appearance and set him up for a bigger part in future movies, but people have thought this about Serkis' appearance in the first trailer.
This, in turn, could lead the way to the standalone Black Panther movie that is on Marvel's slate of films.
Hints have been scattered throughout the two full trailers for Avengers: Age of Ultron so far, and probably 75 percent of them haven't even been noticed. Now, this newest rumor about Mantis has fans freaking about what could be to come in the Marvel Movie Universe.
