’19 Kids And Counting’: Is Jana Or Jinger Duggar Courting Lawson Bates?
Jana and Jinger Duggar recently spent some time hanging out with one of the Bates family’s most eligible bachelors. So could Lawson Bates be courting one of the 19 Kids and Counting stars?
The Duggar Family Blog recently shared a few photos of Lawson Bates hanging out with Jana and Jinger Duggar at the March for Life in Washington, D.C. An anti-abortion rally isn’t the most romantic place to get to know someone, but it works for a Duggar daughter because so many members of her family are there to act as chaperones.
Lawson shared the photo below that shows him standing pretty close to Jana Duggar. You can also see Rick Santorum lurking in the background.

The video below features footage that was filmed for the Family Research Council’s ProLifeCon. It shows Josh Duggar talking to sisters Jinger and Jana Duggar, and family friends Lawson, Trace, and Josie Bates. As you can see, 22-year-old Lawson lingers close to Jinger in the video.
Lawson Bates would make an excellent match for Jinger or Jana because he has so much in common with the sisters, besides their strict religious upbringing. Like the 19 Kids and Counting stars, he comes from a family of 19 kids who star in their own reality show. However, Bringing Up Bates airs on UP TV, not TLC. According to People, the Bates and Duggar kids are also expected to follow similar courtship rules — side hugs only until marriage.
Jana and Jinger Duggar are both accomplished pianists, and Lawson Bates shares their love of music. According to Lawson’s website, he recently recorded a song titled “Problems,” that was inspired by his experiences during mission trips. As 19 Kids and Counting fans know, Jana and Jinger Duggar have also gone on their fair share of mission trips.
According to Radar Online, 25-year-old Jana has been very reluctant to enter into a courtship with any of the guys who are interested in her. She’s very picky when it comes to a potential partner, and she’s too interested in other pursuits — like her piano playing — to spend a lot of time looking for a husband.
“She’s more goal-oriented than some of her siblings. For her, it’s not just about being married.”
Jinger Duggar might make a better match for Lawson Bates. The 21-year-old is closer to the same age as Lawson, and she hasn’t been a sister-mom to her younger siblings as long as Jana has. This means that she won’t feel as guilty about leaving the Duggar home whenever she gets married.
