Fans can watch the 2015 NHL All-Star Game live online and see as the annual showcase of the league’s best players takes on a new dimension.
Like the last two years, this season’s the game is in the hands of the players themselves, with a playground-style draft where captains Jonathan Toews and Nick Foligno alternated making picks. The result is two teams made up of players who are often rivals on the ice, coming together for one game to show off their skills.
“Hockey is a cool sport like that,” said Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane. “You can play and battle and get angry at, mad at, fight with all these guys on the ice, and then forget all of that stuff and be friends off the ice.”
The 2015 NHL All-Star Game takes place Sunday at 5 p.m. from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. It is being broadcast on the NBC Sports Network, but coverage will also be available online.
The NHL All-Star Game draft is already in the books, with the teams looking forward to a spirited contest on Sunday evening.
“I had no idea what to expect, but it’s been great to meet the guys here and fun to hang out with them,” Corey Crawford said. “Our season is so intense and we have to stay so focused and committed, so to be able to let it out a bit without giving much energy is great. Hockey is a close-knit sport. We battle in the playoffs and try to kill each other, but we’re all in this together.”
Fans who want to watch the 2015 NHL All-Star Game live online will likely see a high-flying and high-scoring contest. Defense is usually optional in the All-Star contests — and usually barely played at all — resulting in scores like last year’s 12-9 win for Team Chara over Team Alfredsson.
