WWE News: WWE Website Editor Joey Styles Picks Brock Lesnar To Win 2015 Royal Rumble Match, Does He Know Something?
In what could possibly be the biggest swerve in WWE history, current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar could win the 2014 Royal Rumble match. Don’t believe it? I can’t blame you. However, WWE website editor and former announcer Joey Styles believes Lesnar will win the big match this Sunday. Styles writes a column on the WWE website from time to time. It was there that he made this shocking prediction, and it does have some merit.
This is what Joey claimed in his article on the website…
“After losing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship without being beaten when Rollins pins John Cena, Lesnar will take another Superstar’s spot in the Royal Rumble Match after beating him into unconsciousness backstage. The enraged former UFC Heavyweight Champion will then leave battered and broken bodies strewn about ringside behind him as he starts his Road to WrestleMania — and revenge.”
While Joey did write up an impressive column that is a good stand alone piece, other writers for the website picked Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Rusev, and Bray Wyatt.
A lot of people believe that Seth Rollins will win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship this Sunday at the Rumble. However, it is tough to know how WWE will end up formatting the show. The WWE Championship has gone on last on the PPV in the past, but it has been on a rare occasions. A title change would be huge, and not something you’d do right before the Rumble in most eyes.
However, since Rollins has basically two chances to win the match on Sunday… he seems like the most obvious choice to win the match. Plus with Lesnar basically going against The Authority this past week on WWE RAW, he is not on the good side of the people that steer the ship. Rollins, meanwhile, is the golden boy.
He is the golden goose that WWE is putting their future behind, at least storyline wise. Rollins has been an impressive heel for the better part of 2014 and into this year. Many feel he is face of WWE material, so this win at Royal Rumble would put him in future face status.
What is interesting about Joey’s prediction is that it seems like it could actually happen. Rollins could win the WWE World Championship and Lesnar could realistically, as per his character, take a guy out and enter the Rumble match. Who would pick against The Beast Incarnate then? Of course, while the idea has perfect shock value written all over it, it wouldn’t make a lot of sense.
However, this is WWE putting a thought out on their website. Sure, it’s just a column. However, WWE Magazine was just a magazine. Yet it exposed future storylines such as the Money in the Bank match participants and Shield break up this past year. So while what Joey claims sounds a bit crazy, it could realistically happen in a Rumble that once had such a clear winner. Now, it is a free for all. No one knows who will truly win the thing.
