Many are looking forward to Super Bowl XLIX, but not everyone is going to be watching for the action on the field. Super Bowl commercials are always a big deal when this time of year rolls around, and everyone wonders what big stops will be pulled out. Bud Light has already revealed their ad for this year’s big game, and it brings forth a real-life Pac-Man.
Once again, Bud Light wonders if drinkers are “Up For Whatever,” and this year, the guy really needed to be just that.
As reported by The Verge, Bud Light is looking to appeal to ’80s fans as they put one lucky guy into a life-size game board after he inserts a gigantic quarter into the game slot. The doors open up, and some woman lets him know who he is.
From there, the guy heads into a huge Pac-Man board with power pellet light-up dots on the floor. The original music is remixed in dubstep form, and the ghosts are even there to chase after him and stop him from completing the stage.
As Gizmodo said, the idea for Bud Light’s Super Bowl commercial in 2015 may not be much different than that of last year…but the game sure looks like a heck of a lot of fun.
Last year, Bud Light has a guy placed into a hidden camera reality show that took him all over the place. He ended up meeting with Don Cheadle, Reggie Watts, and a host of other celebrities for a party that lasted throughout the night.
For some reason, that just doesn’t seem nearly as appealing as a life-size Pac-Man game.
There truly isn’t anyone from the ’80s that wouldn’t love to get inside of a life-size Pac-Man game and run away from Pinky, Inky, Blinky, and Clyde. To know that you even get the “Lose A Life” noise when you get touched by the ghosts is even cooler.
Super Bowl XLIX is surely going to bring in record viewership yet again this year, and that’s why everyone wants to put it all out there for their commercials. It is kind of strange for Bud Light to release theirs so incredibly early though. A teaser is one thing, but the full ad, already available for the world to see, is a strange strategy.
Whatever the case may be, Bud Light has a really cool 2015 commercial with the life-size Pac-Man game. Those watching Super Bowl XLIX will get a chance to enjoy the classic music while wishing that was them running from Clyde.
