Meghan Trainor Now Holds The ‘Title’, Album Reaches No. 1 On Billboard

Meghan Trainor had two of the biggest hits in 2014 with her singles “All About That Bass” and “Lips Are Movin'”. Now, Trainor is one step closer to world domination after it was revealed that her album, Title, reached No. 1 in the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. According to figures compiled by Nielsen SoundScan, Title sold 195,000 albums, 377,000 song downloads and nearly 8 million streams. Taylor Swift’s 1989 dropped to No. 2 in the chart after spending 12 weeks in the top spot.

Title is Meghan Trainor’s debut full-length album and was preceded by a 2014 EP of the same name. The release of Title came just three weeks before the Grammy Awards where “All About That Bass” is nominated for Song of The Year and Record of The Year. The 21-year-old singer’s single was a definite hit right from when it was released, with its catchy melody and 1960’s-influenced style.

Meghan Trainor recently collaborated on a song with One Direction’s Harry Styles, although Trainor’s representatives have said that the duet still has to be recorded. “It’s a beautiful song we wrote together on my ukulele,” said Trainor.

“It’s a cute acoustic love thing.”

The Grammy nominee elaborated on her collaboration with Styles.

“It’s one of the first cool things I can do with a pop star. A friend of mine said Harry was a fan and said he would love to write with me. This is kind of a major deal, girl!”

Speaking about the writing process, Trainor added, “He’s an incredible writer, too.”

“I was worried he’d just be a 20-year-old boy. So I walked in with a prepared verse and chorus. But he gave me very poetic, mature lyrics. I was like, ‘Well, damn, Harry, you know what love is.”

Trainor is currently busy touring to promote Title, so it’s still uncertain when Trainor and Styles will record their duet. However, the fact that she’s been open to the press about the collaboration proves to be a good sign that the recording will push through — eventually, when she takes a time out from her busy schedule.

It was announced that Meghan Trainor, along with Nick Jonas, Ellie Goulding, and Lionel Ritchie, will be joining the 8th season of The Voice as guest mentors. The three will be coaching the singers who will pass the show’s infamous Blind Auditions. Jonas will be handling the singers on Christina Aguilera’s team, Goulding will be with Team Pharrell, while Ritchie and Trainor will coach alongside Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, respectively.
