X-Men: Apocalypse has casted actors for the characters of Cyclops, Storm, and Jean Grey. The movie will feature younger versions of the most popular mutant superheroes, according to a recent report. Director Bryan Singer announced on Twitter that Apocalypse will star three new actors playing the characters of Storm, Cyclops and Jean Grey.

The most famous name in the X-Men movie is Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on HBO’s hit show Game of Thrones. Turner will play the part of telepathic Jean Grey, originally played by Famke Jansssen in the old X-Men movie.
Apocalypse is also expected to feature a younger version of Cyclops. This character is not to be confused with the character that appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a movie that mysteriously disappeared after the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Tye Sheridan will play the new Cyclops. Sheridan has been featured in movies like The Tree of Life and Joe.
The X-Men movie will also reintroduce Storm’s character. Halle Berry played the infamous mutant who controlled the weather. The new Storm will be featured by Alexandra Shipp, who was most recently known for her role of Aaliyah in Lifetime’s biopic, which released late last year. Shipp is now getting recognition in the Apocalypse movie.
Ironically enough, Zendaya Coleman was also considered as the role for Storm. Zendaya was also previously considered for the Aaliyah biopic. It looks like Shipp stole another of Zendaya’s roles in the upcoming X-Men film.
Shipp will need more of an introduction to X-Men fans though, since she also only acted in the Nickelodeon show House of Anubis. Shipp, 23, is older than Turner and Sheridan, who are both 18, but with her fresh face, she can still easily pass for a teenager. X-Men: Apocalypse will also mark the first time that these young actors will star in a major blockbuster film.
Turner, Sheridan and Shipp will join another newbie actor named Oscar Isaac. He will play the bad guy and titular villain, Apocalypse, in the movie. The X-Men movie will also include returning actors like Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy.
The Apocalypse film is set in the 1980s and is a concluding chapter for the First Class X-Men film, according to Entertainment Weekly. This movie is also rumored to include Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Channing Tatum as Gambit, and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.
Isaac recently said that Apocalypse will have some “scary s**t” that will bring the X-Men crew to their knees. According to a recent report on the Inquisitr, X-Men fans will be happy to hear that the villain has plenty of tricks up his sleeve for this third installment of this rebooted franchise. Isaac is reportedly “impressed” by what he’s seen of the latest X-Men movie.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to release in theaters on May 27, 2016. The film is expected to be directed by the controversial Bryan Singer.
