Rumors about Star Wars spin-offs like the proposed Boba Fett movie or the Han Solo movie have been speculated on for quite a while at this point, but now some believe it is possible actresses Rooney Mara or Tatiana Maslany could land the leading lady role as a young Princess Leia.
In a related report by the Inquisitr, George Lucas made it official that Boba Fett survived the sarlacc pit, although whether that means the Boba Fett movie is set near the story timeframe of Star Wars: Episode 7 is another matter entirely.
Little is known about either the Han Solo or Boba Fett movie. We do not even know the movie's name, since it's listed as the "Untitled Star Wars Project," although the release date is definitely December 16, 2016. Unofficially, the Boba Fett release date is likely the 2016 movie, since toy manufacturer Hasbro accidentally leaked out a list of the entire Star Wars sequel release schedule.
- 2014: Rebels
- 2015: Episode VII
- 2016: Boba Fett
- 2017: Episode VIII
- 2018: Solo
- 2019: Episode IX
- 2020: Red Five
As for the Han Solo movie, it's uncertain what role Rooney Mara or Tatiana Maslany may be cast for that 2018 feature. If the film is set after the events of Episode 6, they could still be fighting to become a young Princess Leia. This idea is highly speculative since even the leaked name has some wondering if the Solo movie is even about Han Solo at all. After all, Harrison Ford himself has indicated that they want Han Solo dead in either Episode 7 or 8. The proposed death of Solo would tie into other rumors, since the production of the Solo movie is operating under the code name "Luminac Industrial Goods" and is said to be tied to the events of Star Wars: Episode 8.
Of course, the exact plot may be partially up in the air. Writer Garry Whitta wrote the first script, but has since left the unnamed 2016 Star Wars project, so it's very possible plans for the story will change dramatically. After all, even George Lucas' vision for Star Wars was tossed in the trash by Disney. The leaked release date schedule also may be completely wrong, since other Star Wars rumors claim that the Han Solo movie will be first, not the Boba Fett movie.
Do you think either Rooney Mara or Tatiana Maslany would make a good Princess Leia?
