WWE News: Updated Royal Rumble Card And A Look At This Sunday’s Big Show

The WWE Royal Rumble takes place this Sunday from Philadelphia, and the card for the big show has pretty much been set following last night’s edition of Monday Night RAW and Tuesday night’s SmackDown taping.

The Rumble is arguably the third biggest show of the year, following WrestleMania and SummerSlam, and it typically kicks off WrestleMania season, two months worth of high energy television leading into the biggest show of the year. This year, WWE television has been in a rut since last summer, and the company has shown no signs of turning around the downward trend of their shows. However, WWE hopes that will change following the Royal Rumble.

At the top of the Royal Rumble card, you have WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar defending his title in a triple threat match against John Cena and Seth Rollins. The outcome of this match will largely depend on who WWE decides on as the winner of the Rumble itself. With the company still unsure if Lesnar is re-signing with the company or heading back to MMA, it seems likely that he will be dropping the title on Sunday (barring a signed contract between Lesnar and WWE between now and Sunday).

WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos will defend their straps against The Miz and Damien Mizdow at Royal Rumble. Mizdow continues to be the most over with the crowd of all four men.

The company hopes to try to give The Ascension a boost when they take on The New Age Outlaws. The Ascension has largely struggled to connect with the mainstream WWE audience after a successful run in NXT, and this match at Royal Rumble will need a miracle to change the trend.

This brings us to the Royal Rumble match itself, with the winner leaving the Royal Rumble with a guaranteed shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 31. The Rumble consists of 30 entrants, and 19 entrants have been confirmed so far: Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, Rusev, Wade Barrett, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose, Big Show, Kane, Goldust, Stardust, The Miz, Damien Mizdow, R-Truth, Dolph Ziggler, Justin Gabriel, Fandango, Los Matadores and Ryback.

Rumors have been abound on the internet today concerning surprise entrants who are possible for the Royal Rumble match. It was reported that WWE is considering NXT talent for the match, and the WWE is also reportedly concerning bringing in some former legends to shock the audience. Every year there are mystery entrants in the Royal Rumble match, so we will have to wait until Sunday to see what WWE has up their sleeve for the 2015 edition of the Royal Rumble.

Filling out the rest of the card, we have a diva’s division tag team match consisting of Paige and Natalya taking on the Bella Twins. On the Royal Rumble pre-show, New Day will take on Tyson Kidd, Cesaro, and Adam Rose in a six-man tag team match.
