Can An iPad Survive A 100,000 Foot Fall? Signs Point To Yes With G-Form Case

G-Form, a company known for making protective athletic pads and cases for electronics, took to Youtube with a video of an iPad in their Extreme Edge case, falling from a whopping 100,000 feet. The iPad was carried up high into the atmosphere thanks to a weather balloon.

Quite the publicity stunt, but it seems to be getting the company lots of attention. At the time of writing this post, the video has over 1500 likes and has been embedded on top sites all over the Internet.

People are a bit skeptical however. Even though the video has received a good amount of likes, there’s nearly 900 dislikes as of writing this. The biggest problem seems to be that the company didn’t post a video of the full descent, but an edited version to, what we can guess, save time.

Here’s a few skeptical comments:

“Convenient editing, total scam. Wonder why they didn’t show the iPad video from start to finish?”

“haha “The movie is STILL playing” yet at the end shows the beginning animation of the video.. Fake ?”

“The terminal velocity would be way higher if they let it fall freely, without the balance weight. Now it is falling in a flat position with a parachute effect.”

The iPad case that G-Form is advertising in the video is available for $44.95 which isn’t a bad deal at all, especially when you consider that a simple smart cover from the Apple store will run you $39.

With the skepticism surrounding the video, hopefully the company will release an unedited version to clear up any concerns surrounding the 100,000 foot fall.
