Security Increased For Paris Fashion Week

Security has increased for Paris Fashion Week, in wake of the recent terrorist attacks. The Fédération Française de la Couture has decided to add more security in its French capital before the bi-annual fashion celebration begins. The shows will open on Wednesday, following the deadly Islamist attacks that took place in the French capital.

Celebrities and other well-known fashion icons will be attending Paris Fashion Week, which is expected to run until Jan. 29, according to the Associated Press. Some of the attendees were reportedly “skittish” over the security at the some of the shows. A report on the New York Post‘s Page Six said that some of the Paris Fashion Week organizers said that several “security issues” have kept some of the attendees away from the fashion shows.

Middle Eastern clients are also expected to attend Paris Fashion Week. They reportedly spend big money on the featured Paris Haute Couture creations. These attendees are also reluctant to attend Paris Fashion Week.

The Fédération Française de la Couture has not responded to any of the questions about the security issues. A statement was given to several of the French fashion houses stated that these security measures were important for Fashion Week to run successfully. The statement included the following information.

“Simple logistical measures must be implemented to reassure those attending the shows and those participating in them.”

These heightened security checks at Paris Fashion Week included bag inspections and checks on invitations for exclusive fashion shows. It’s the security’s responsibility to make sure that each of the invitations are valid.

Paris Fashion Week is typically seen as a high point for the capital city and for the European catwalk calendars. The calendar typically includes shows in Milan and London. Paris Fashion Week includes several high-profile names in both the fashion industry and in Hollywood.

According to the MalayMail Online, Liv Tyler and Marion Cotillard made an appearance at Paris Fashion Week, while reality star Kim Kardashian and husband Kanye West stole attention for bringing along their daughter, North West. All eyes are often on the celebrities and who they happen to wear.

Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian made an appearance earlier this year at Paris Fashion Week, according to a report on Inquisitr. Kendall poked fun at her older sister on Instagram saying that she “looks up to” her. The two sisters both wore fashions from Balmain’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection.

The Paris Fashion Week shows typically start on Wednesday and include five days of menswear by Hermes, Kenzo, Valentino and Louis Vuitton. The event then kicks off on Jan. 26 to include four days of Haute Couture fashion with top brands like Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier and Christian Dior.
