Griffin O’Neal, Son Of Actor Ryan O’Neal, Arrested on Domestic Battery Charges

Griffin O’Neal, the 47-year-old son of actor Ryan O’Neal, is facing more legal trouble.

The San Diego Union Tribune reports that Griffen, already facing possible prison time for a DUI crash in 2011, was arrested at his suburban San Diego home on New Year’s Eve on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery.

According to the Tribune, a family member called San Diego County sheriff’s deputies to his Ramona home to report someone was drinking excessively. Upon their arrival, police arrested O’Neal for aggressive behavior toward his wife.

He’s being held at San Diego Central Jail on $10,000 bail.

Griffen’s domestic battery arrest comes just days before he is due in court to face sentencing in a separate case in which he drove under the influence of drugs in August, causing a head-on collision that injured another motorist.

While toxicology tests revealed O’Neal had amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana and Xanax in his blood at the time of the 2011 crash, Griffen’s attorneys said the one-time B-actor had been on some of the drugs as treatment for his degenerative bone disease and that he was en route to help his brother Redmond, who himself had just been arrested with heroin in his car.

Griffin O’Neal faces anywhere from probation to four years in prison for the DUI crash. It remains unclear if his recent arrest will delay or otherwise affect his sentencing.
