Season 8 of The Voice is well underway. So is Blake Shelton’s drinking. On Saturday, he tweeted that he has spent the past two days filming the new season drunk.
Is Blake really drunk while filming the show, or is he just kidding and keeping up with his shtick? In an interview with ET in November 2014, Blake and fellow coach Adam Levine revealed what they’re really drinking from their cups while on the show. While Adam said that the only thing in his cup is coffee, Blake quipped that “Adam has crack that he keeps in his cup.” As for Blake’s cup?
“I have vodka. I drink vodka on the show. Now that I think of it, every damn brand of vodka has been in that cup. And I don’t care if you like it or if anybody likes it, that’s what I drink so get over it.”
If Blake really is drinking alcohol while filming The Voice, he sure holds his alcohol well!
Season 8 of The Voice, which premieres on Monday, February 23, will feature the return of Christina Aguilera as a coach, joining Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Pharrell in the big, red, rotating chairs. Christina took a break from the show for the past two seasons, allowing Shakira and Gwen Stefani to take her place for a season each.
Perhaps it’s Christina’s return that is prompting Blake to drink a little more than usual? Reportedly, not everyone is happy that Christina’s back. In early January, OK! Magazine reported that Adam Levine and Blake Shelton would have rather had Gwen continue on as a coach. A source revealed that both Adam and Blake asked the producers to let Gwen stay on The Voice because they like the dynamic they have with her better, but the producers didn’t listen.
“They think Gwen is a little vanilla and that the show’s become too nice. Christina is more controversial and can be a bit of a mean girl, and that’s the kind of attitude that makes for great TV.”
Christina Aguilera is well aware of her diva reputation, both on and off The Voice. As reported by the Inquisitr, the singer even joked that her daughter, Summer Rain, is a little diva in training in her first introduction to the world.
