Louis Tomlinson Makes A Video Plea For Two-Year-Old Cancer Sufferer

Big-hearted One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has made a video plea to help raise money for a 2-year-old cancer sufferer. Unreality TV reports that Louis was made aware of toddler Ruby Young’s illness and stepped in to help. Ruby is suffering from a rare and aggressive form of stomach cancer called neuroblastoma.

Kent Online says that it was discovered that Ruby had cancer in her stomach last year, and ever since, her parents, Vikki and Rob, have been doing everything they can to raise money to get Ruby the best and latest treatments. Louis is trying to help Ruby’s parents to raise £500,000, which is what it will cost to ensure that Ruby can be treated in America by specialists doctors. So far, her devoted parents have raised £110,000, but since Louis’ video, that total has risen by around £3,000 per day.

Speaking about Louis Tomlinson’s video, Vikki Young told the Sun that she was very grateful for Louis’ help.

She said, “We’re so grateful. This has given us real hope of reaching the target.”

Helping little Ruby is not Louis Tomlinson’s only charitable effort. He is also a patron of the Edan Dora Trust, a charity that helps children with Encephalitis. Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain which is caused either by an infection invading the brain (Infectious Encephalitis) or through the immune system attacking the brain in error (Autoimmune Encephalitis).

On the Edan Dora Trust website, Louis says, “I had never heard of Encephalitis or acquired brain injury until I met Eden. As I spent more and more time with her it soon become apparent the real and serious issues this brave little girl faces. Despite her illness Eden is a truly incredible little girl and we have become great friends.”

Louis continued, “When Petrina and Phil asked if I would consider becoming a patron of their charity I was honoured, there was no doubt in my mind and of course I said yes. I told them I will do everything I possibly can to help raise awareness so I can help other people like Eden. I am incredibly passionate and driven to make a real difference with this brilliant charity.”

Earlier this week, One Direction fans donated a sizable sum of money for the British Asian Trust, an organization for which Zayn Malik acts an ambassador, in honor of Zayn’s birthday.

A “Virgin Giving” page has been set up by fans in honour of Louis’s band mate Harry Styles forthcoming birthday. It has already raised almost £6,000 for London Lesbian and Gay Switchboard.

As every One Direction fan knows, Louis Tomlinson and his mates start a world tour in Australia early next month. The Australian version of the Telegraph is running a competition to raise funds for a children’s cancer unit. The prize is the chance for the winner and four friends to meet Louis and the rest of the band at their show in Sydney.
