Jennifer Lawrence's New Project Reteams Her With 'Hunger Games' Director

As one of the busiest actresses in Hollywood today, Jennifer Lawrence can pretty much pick and choose from dozens of projects. Her latest project will cast her in James Cameron's The Dive and Ms. Lawrence will again be working alongside director Francis Lawrence. The two Lawrences (no relation) previously worked together on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2. The second Mockingjay film will be released later this year.

The Dive is based on true events and tells the story of Audrey Mestre, played by Ms. Lawrence. Mestre was a freediver who drowned in 2002 in a deep dive accident. The film, written by J. Michael Straczynski and Laeta Kalogridis, will be a romantic drama, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Dive is based on the true love story of Cuban diver Francisco 'Pipin' Ferreras and the French-born diver Audrey Mestre. Under his guidance and training, Mestre became a freediver who broke several world records. However, Mestre died while attempting a breath-hold dive over 500 feet. She was only 28."
Filming may not begin right away, because, as Variety reports, Ms. Lawrence is scheduled to begin filming another film, Joy, next month. Joy will reteam Jennifer with Robert De Niro. Also on Ms. Lawrence's plate is her role as Mystique in X-Men: Apocalypse. Many of these upcoming films will keep Jennifer on the Fox lot specifically, so it seems that the studio knows a good thing when they have it. More than likely, the studio will conspire to keep Jennifer busy with interesting projects to ensure she doesn't cast her eyes toward greener pastures.

Ms. Lawrence shows her loyalties, a rare concept in today's world and especially in Hollywood, returning to work with those professionals she's had good experiences with in the past. Another recent example is Serena, which reunites Ms. Lawrence with former American Hustle co-star Bradley Cooper.

Representatives for Ms. Lawrence have not yet responded to multiple requests for comment.

Francis Lawrence has previously worked on Water For Elephants, Constantine, and I Am Legend. Mr. Lawrence has also worked in television, most recently producing episodes of Touch and Kings.

Gretchen Rush, a CAA and an attorney, represents both Francis Lawrence and Jennifer Lawrence.

Ms. Lawrence has been making headlines of another sort, as her romance with Coldplay leadman, Chris Martin, became more public. Inquisitr recently reported that Jennifer and Martin have been spotted together on multiple occasions.
