‘Heroes Reborn’: Zachary Levi Cast In NBC Miniseries

Fans of Heroes, which aired 2006-2010, who are looking forward to the miniseries Heroes Reborn when it finally premieres now have something else to be excited about: seeing Chuck‘s Zachary Levi in it. He has joined the miniseries that is a continuation of the original show.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, the miniseries Heroes Reborn is “shrouded in secrecy,” and as E! News has reported, those words have popped up again from NBC’s Robert Greenblatt when he confirmed that Levi has joined the cast at the network’s TCA panel.

“We are happy to announce that Zach Levi is joining the cast along with Jack Coleman which we announced a few months ago. We’re still keeping Zach’s role under wraps because everything about this show is shrouded in secrecy. More names will be announced in the coming months.”

So far, not much is known about the miniseries, although NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke did tease in a statement when the miniseries was first announced that it is possible that some original cast members could return for Heroes Reborn.

“The enormous impact Heroes had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening. Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We’re thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept. Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.”

As Greenblatt stated and had been reported by Deadline, Jack Coleman is returning as Noah Bennett (a.k.a. HRG) for the 13-episode miniseries, which “will replicate the basic elements of the show’s first season in which ordinary people were waking up to the fact that they had extraordinary abilities.”

Even with this news, fans are still going to have to wait some for Heroes Reborn to premiere, as Zap2it has reported that creator Tim Kring has revealed that the writers’ room is “up and running” but production isn’t going to begin for a couple more months. However, the plan is to still air it in 2015, so it’s possible that it could premiere this summer or in the fall. He also couldn’t address which other cast members could return.

“The train’s moving down the road. …I can’t announce anything. It’s all locked – it’s Fort Knox.”

Zap2it went on to point out that according to Kring, the “focus” of Heroes Reborn “will largely be on new characters, with returning ones there primarily to provide continuity with earlier seasons.”
