Ashley Hamilton Arrested, Allegedly Impersonated Cop With Fake Badge

Songwriter Ashley Hamilton was arrested recently for impersonating a police officer in order to receive special treatment for a friend.

TMZ reports that 40-year-old Hamilton took a friend to a LGBT medical center in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon to receive urgent care.

The report claims that Ashley asked the staff member working behind the crowded waiting room’s counter if his friend could be seen by a doctor as soon as possible. Following the rules, the staffer replied by informing Ashley that his friend needed to wait their turn.

According to TMZ, Hamilton was apparently not satisfied with that response, and decided to take things to a whole new level. He flashed a shiny badge and told the staffer that he was a cop. The staffer must have believed him because his friend received treatment immediately after his announcement and “badge” flashing.

However, Hamilton was reportedly not able to maintain his lie for very long – especially after being questioned about it directly. The report claims that the staffer questioned Ashley’s credentials by asking the “cop” where he worked. At that time, Ashley came clean and admitted that he was not really a police officer.

The staffer was apparently upset by the deception and called 911. When police later questioned Ashley Hamilton, he admitted that his “badge” was just a movie prop. Hamilton was arrested for impersonating a police officer. TMZ confirms that he was released from police custody on Wednesday morning. According to Hollywood.com, Ashley was released on a $2,500 bail.

He is scheduled to appear in court in regards to this case on February 3.

Ashley Hamilton, the son of George Hamilton and Alana Stewart, first made headlines with his marriage to actress Shannen Doherty in 1993 at the age of 19.

The couple only knew each other for two weeks when they got married; the relationship lasted only five months before Shannen filed for divorce.

Hamilton also competed in the ninth season of Dancing with the Stars in 2009, but was the first celebrity contestant to be eliminated. After his time on Dancing with the Stars came to an end, Extra brought Ashley Hamilton on-board as a field correspondent.

In addition to his presence on the small screen and the recording studio, Ashley Hamilton was also featured as one of the Extremis soldiers in the 2013 blockbuster hit film Iron Man 3.
