Liam Neeson isn’t a Muslim, and the actor insists that that he isn’t converting to Islam. In other words, don’t start protesting Taken 3 just yet.
Rumors surfaced not too long ago that Neeson was planning to ditch the Catholic Church to become a Muslim. Although reports of the actor’s controversial switch made the rounds online, Liam wants the world to know that he has absolutely no plans to change his religious beliefs anytime soon. In short: It’s just a rumor, nothing more.
To set the record straight, Neeson addressed the stories about his unexpected jump to Islam during the premiere of his last action flick in Dubai. When questioned by Al Arabiya News, the Taken 4 star gave a very direct response.
“No, I’m not converting,” Neeson said.

So who’s responsible for spreading the rumor that Liam Neeson is planning to become a Muslim? According to the New York Daily News, it all started when the actor discussed shooting Taken 2 with the Sun back in 2012. Since Neeson had positive things to say about hearing an Islamic prayer while filming in Turkey, people automatically assumed that he was slowly but surely switching to Islam. Of course, that’s not the case.
“The call to prayer happens five times a day, and for the first week, it drives you crazy, and then it just gets into your spirit, and it’s the most beautiful, beautiful thing. There are 4,000 mosques in the city. Some are just stunning, and it really makes me think about becoming a Muslim.”
In addition to rumors that Liam Neeson is thinking about becoming a muslim, outlets have jumped all over his comments regarding gun ownership in America. Although his character in Taken 3 doesn’t have a problem taking care of business with a firearm, apparently Neeson feels a little differently about the matter.
The Inquisitr previously reported that Neeson believes there are simply too many guns in the world these days, particularly in the United States. In his humble opinion, that’s a serious problem that needs a proper solution.
“I think the population is like, 320 million? There’s over 300 million guns. Privately owned, in America. I think it’s a [expletive] disgrace. Every week now we’re picking up a newspaper and seeing,’Yet another few kids have been killed in schools.'”
