WWE News: John Cena’s ‘WrestleMania 31’ Feud Revealed?

WrestleMania season is one of the most exciting times of the year for WWE fans. Storylines are in-depth and intriguing. The pure wrestling aspect of WWE comes out during this period. Not only that, but part-time wrestlers begin to show their faces again and add another element to WWE programming. It’s very hard to argue that between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania, the WWE is fun.

One man that the WWE always centers their programming around is John Cena. For the last 10 years, Cena has continued to be “the guy” atop the WWE ladder. He is a 15-time World champion and considered one of the best WWE superstars in history. There is no arguing the contributions he’s made to the wrestling industry, as his list of accolades seem to be endless.

Right now, Cena is entrenched in a program with the Authority. There are WWE fans that think he should branch out and begin a feud with someone else for WrestleMania 31. In June, the Inquisitr reported that a feud between Cena and Rusev was being tossed around. Seven months later, that report is gaining more traction. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a feud between John Cena and Rusev might be on the horizon.

“The idea at the time was to have Rusev cost John Cena his WWE World Heavyweight Title match at the Royal Rumble.

“WWE is currently advertising Cena and Randy Orton vs. Rusev and Seth Rollins for the February 27th live event from Madison Square Garden. This could be a sign that they are going ahead with plans for Cena vs. Rusev. So far there has been no interaction with Rusev and either Cena or Orton that would lead to that main event being booked. It’s also possible that Cena vs. Rusev is just the live event program during WrestleMania season.”

How does this idea stack up with some of the others that were discussed for John Cena and Rusev? This is a guy that can elevate careers, which is a debatable subject. Cena’s match with Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 30 created a star in Wyatt. He was already popular, but Cena’s name is all Wyatt needed to make the next step.

Rusev has instances of boredom. On occasion, Rusev and Lana are excellent television that should never be turned off. For example, when the Rock came out to attack Rusev verbally, that segment was incredible. If Cena and Rusev were to feud from post-Royal Rumble to WrestleMania 31, that would give Rusev the push he needs to become a main event-caliber guy.
