Total 10 Rapid Weight Loss Plan Goes Viral: Paleo-Style Low Carb Diet Includes Desserts [Recipes]
Farewell cabbage soup diet, hello Total 10 Rapid Weight Loss plan? After first featuring the new Paleo-style low-carb diet known as the Total 10 Weight Loss on his talk show, Dr. Mehmet Oz unveiled it on the popular talk show, The View. Now the diet has gone viral, with the plan tried out by more than 2 million people.
After testing it in trials, Dr. Oz determined that the high protein diet took off an average of 8.1 pounds in two weeks. As the Inquisitr reported, he unveiled the first stage of the Total 10 Rapid Weight Loss Plan during his first new show of 2015. Now he’s providing additional details, including how to enhance it with desserts.
While the Paleo-style low-carb diet is designed to curb cravings by providing unlimited non-starchy vegetables and generous servings of protein at every meal, Dr. Oz noted that some dieters may still long for a sugar fix. The key is to choose your sugar source wisely. For example, in the dessert recipe below, zero-calorie stevia is used for a safe sugar source.
Total 10 Banana-Chocolate Ice Cream
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/4 tbsp cocoa powder
1/4 liquid Stevia
Directions: Combine ingredients, mash and enjoy!
You can eat one Total 10 dessert recipe each week, with a dessert counting as one snack. Two snacks are allowed daily, such as an apple with nut butter or a handful of nuts. In addition, you can sip unlimited amounts of vegetable broth (see the recipe below).
Another option for satisfying sugar cravings is to use cinnamon, said Dr. Oz on his January 12 show. Try adding to your coffee, for example, or using in a recipe such as the approved dessert below.
Total 10 Cinnamon Pumpkin Mousse
3/4 cup pumpkin puree
1/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Directions: Combine ingredients and enjoy.
For those who are used to starting their day with a breakfast of sweet rolls or a jelly doughnut, the Total 10 weight loss diet includes a protein smoothie for breakfast. That extra dose of protein, plus the 12 ounces of protein in the form of poultry, fish or eggs allowed each day, helps the metabolism to function properly while curbing those cravings, said Dr. Oz.
Total 10 Pumpkin Pie Smoothie
2 tbsp protein powder (whey or egg white)
1 tbsp flaxseed oil
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
1/2 cup pure pumpkin puree
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup ice
Directions: Blend ingredients and enjoy.
Total 10 Vegetable Broth
1 gallon water
1 large onion, chopped
1 cup winter squash cut into large cubes
1 cup root vegetables such as turnips, parsnips and rutabaga cut into large cubes
2 cups chopped greens such as kale, parsley, beet greens, collard greens, chard and dandelion
2 celery stalks
1/2 cup cabbage
4 1/2-inch slices of ginger
2 whole garlic cloves
sea salt to taste
Directions: Combine all the ingredients in a stockpot and heat at a low boil for approximately 60 minutes.
Cool, strain (throw out the cooked vegetables) and store in a large, tightly sealed glass container in the fridge.
Heat gently and drink up to 3 to 4 cups a day.
