Kate Middleton Enjoys Hour-Long Shopping Spree In London: What Did She Buy?

These days, there’s not much Kate Middleton can do that the media doesn’t pick up on and that includes a simple hour-long shopping spree on the streets of her hometown, London.

As The International Business Times reported today, the Duchess of Cambridge seemingly needed some “time out” from her royal duties, which also include looking after her husband Prince William and baby son, Prince George.

So, on Monday, Kate Middleton decided that enough was enough and that she badly needed some “retail therapy,” which she chose to take at the John Lewis department store in Chelsea.

Sure it would have been an even more idylic outing if Kate would have gone alone and treated herself to some “me” time. But being the prestigious royal she is, the Duchess was, of course, accompanied all the way by two burly royal security guards.

A shopper who was at the store told E!online, “She was with two security guards but Kate carried all of her own bags and they did not look light.”

Kate was dressed modestly as ever, hiding her growing baby bump underneath a white overcoat. She also wore knee length boots and a grey scarf.

It’s no secret that Kate Middleton is a keen shopper and has even been known to seek the best bargains available. Nevertheless, this is the first time the Duchess has been spotted out in public since Christmas.

The new year is packed with public royal engagements for the Duchess, and just this week, she has two. The first is a visit to the Barlby Primary School in London on Thursday, followed by a trip to The Fostering Network on Friday.

While the Duchess was allegedly seen carrying a number of bags following her brief bit of retail therapy, no one is quite sure what she bought. Most people are speculating that the most likely items are presents or clothes for Prince George, and of course, some new maternity wear for herself.
