‘Married At First Sight’: Jamie Pregnant? Doug Says It’s ‘Too Soon’

Married At First Sight: The First Year premieres January 13, with Jamie and Doug Hehner at odds about a new baby. The couple, who were married sight unseen on the first season of FYI‘s Married at First Sight, will celebrate their first wedding anniversary in March, but Doug is not ready to start a family yet.

The New York Post reports that Jamie (Otis) Hehner is not pregnant, but she is “anxious to start a family” despite the fact that Doug wants to wait. On the season premiere of MAFS: The First Year, the couple will reveal that they have had some “heated discussions” about babies since they got married last March.

“It’s definitely generated some talk. I just think that we’re not where we need to be as a couple to introduce a child… It takes focus off of the relationship and there’s still room to grow for Jamie and I. I think it’s too soon to even introduce that. But it’s something definitely in the near future for us.”

According to a previous report from the Inquisitr,Jamie and Doug decided to stay together after a rather rocky start to their arranged marriage. Jamie initially admitted that she was not attracted to her husband the day they got married, but it seems that their awkward relationship has turned into a solid relationship — despite their different opinions on when to start a family.

FYI reports that the MAFS spinoff show will not only follow the lives of Jamie and Doug, but will also allow viewers to see how Jason Carrion and Cortney Hendrix — the other couple who decided to stay married — are doing now that they are settled into married life. The Post reports that it hasn’t been a perfect start for the hard-working couple, but they are still working hard at their marriage.

“As of today we are still happily married, but it’s not that it’s been rainbows and butterflies. Both of us have matured a lot through this experiment and by being married. We do talk about the tough things and the rough topics now, because you have to.”

Fans of the show can also expect to get an update on the couple who divorce, Monet and Vaughn. Although it appeared that they had great physical attraction, they weren’t on the same page when it came to what they expected from each other in a marriage.

“Viewers will see Jamie and Doug, and Cortney and Jason, continue their journeys from the six month mark of marriage to their March 2015 one year anniversary. From the holidays to birthdays to moving into new homes – viewers will see the two couples mark many “firsts” together. The series will also check in with the couple that chose not to stay together – Monet and Vaughn.”

The Married at First Sight: The First Yearpremiere will air the first of eight episodes on January 13 starting at 9 p.m. ET on FYI.
