R&B Singer ‘The Weeknd’ Arrested In Vegas After Assaulting An Officer

The R&B Canadian singer, The Weeknd, was arrested in Vegas after he allegedly punched an officer during an outbreak.

According to SPIN, police officers responded to a call regarding an ongoing brawl at Drai’s Nightclub, located at the Cromwell hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, at around 4:20 a.m. on Saturday, where the singer performed Friday night.

When police officers arrived at the hotel at 3595 Las Vegas Blvd, there were at least 30 people involved in the brawl. Each individual was separated as an attempt to break up the fight, including The Weeknd – born Abel Tesfaye – who was taken inside of an elevator.

Apparently, the 24-year-old was still enraged after being separated from the others that he punched a nearby officer — whose name has not been released — on the side of the head with a closed fist, Laura says, a spokeswoman from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Friends of the singer were seen pulling him off of the police officer and attempting to calm him down.

The Weeknd was later arrested and taken to Lark County Detention at 5:50 a.m., where he earned a misdemeanor charge of battery of protected person.

He was subsequently released on a $2,000 bail.

Information regarding The Weeknds’ court date is unknown.

After The Weeknd’s violent behavior, which led to him being arrested in Vegas, he has yet to release any statements or information regarding the brawl or the punching incident that transpired at Drai’s nightclub in Vegas. He did, however, post a few photos via Instagram on Saturday, the day he was arrested in Vegas. One of which was of him boarding a jet and leaving Las Vegas with the caption, “escape from Las Vegas.”

The Weeknd is best known for his duet ‘Love Me Harder’ with the 21-year-old American singer, songwriter, and actress Ariana Grande. He quickly grew to fame when the song reached number seven on the Billboards charts, which made it his first appearance being on the top 10 singles’ chart, Daily Mail says.

Arianna Grande and The Weeknd have since performed the song together at two separate events: once in November at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles, and again in December at a Jingle Ball concert.

His song ‘Earn It’, which was featured on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack, was also recognized as the most viral tracks, and it was listed number four on Spotify.
