Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are a force to be reckoned with when it comes pulling the audience in at the start of the Golden Globes. However, the duo has said that this will be their final year to host the Globes as a team. Therefore, the two were sure to push the envelope for their last Golden Globes opening monologue.
For those who missed it, the entire monologue can be viewed above. It starts off with the two throwing out witty quips at one another and roasting a few of the stars in the audience. From Oprah to George Clooney, no star was safe from the firestorm of jokes and jabs.
Poehler and Fey started off soft with pretty standard award show jokes. However, as the monologue progressed, it was easy to see that the two were not going to leave any subjects untouched. From jokes about ongoing racial tension to Bill Cosby, the audience seemed shocked at what they were hearing. People mouthed “Oh my god” as Poehler and Fey made pokes at Bill Cosby’s alleged drugging and raping of women.
The jokes were complete with Bill Cosby impressions. After the Bill Cosby jokes, Fey joked that her earpiece was buzzing because “apparently their time was up.” Prior to the show, Poehler said on they weren’t going to back off on the jokes, because what could the awards show do? Fire them?
“What are they gonna do, fire us?”
What do you think of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s final Golden Globes monologue? Did they go overboard by joking about the Bill Cosby rape allegations, or was it all in good fun?
