Katy Perry and Diplo Split? Enjoys Dinner With John Mayer
Has Katy Perry decided to split from DJ and music producer Diplo in favor of her old beau, John Mayer? The rumor mill was set abuzz when Katy was caught having dinner with John over the weekend.
Yet, as E! News pointed out on Monday, January 5, the two didn’t go to a super romantic restaurant for an intimate dinner. Rather, they went to a friend’s casual dinner party. A photo captured of the two shows them standing at the doorway of what looks to be someone’s house.
According to an eyewitness, the two were “pretty mellow, relaxed and super friendly with each other.” As for Diplo, who doesn’t seem to have made it to the dinner, a source said that he and Perry “are still a couple and very much all about each other.”
Katy Perry and John Mayer had an on-and-off relationship in 2012 and 2013, but finally called it quits in February 2014, right after enjoying an Hawaiian vacation together. At one point, they seemed to be the real deal. Perry and Mayer even made a duet, “Who You Love,” and starred in the music video for it together.
Alas, the relationship wasn’t meant to be. In the October 2014 issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Katy commented on her failed relationships, explaining that she tries to be a mother too much and that some of the men have been threatened by her success.
“A lot of times I’ve ended up with people who have been intimidated by me, unfortunately. They say they’re not, but it comes out in the long run. They’re threatened, or there’s resentment because they don’t know how to handle it.”
Katy started dating Diplo a few months after her relationship with John collapsed. While Katy and Diplo still have yet to officially confirm their relationship, they have frequently been spotted out together behaving like a couple. In May 2014, Diplo’s mom blabbed to Radar Online about the relationship, saying that Diplo has discussed the relationship with his dad and that Katy seems like “a lovely girl.”
In November 2014, Diplo confirmed his relationship with Katy in his own way by trashing her enemy, Taylor Swift. After it was confirmed that Taylor’s “Bad Blood” was about Katy’s bad behavior towards her, Diplo tweeted that people should start a fundraising campaign to help Taylor get a bigger booty. Thankfully, Taylor had her friend Lorde to help her out. Lorde swifty replied that people should raise money for Diplo’s small penis.
So it seems that Katy Perry and John Mayer are just two people who are able to remain friends despite their romantic relationship not working out. Luckily for Katy and John’s mutual friends, they don’t force them to choose sides or awkwardly invite one but not the other.
