Naked Man With Gun Admits To Double Homicide, ‘I Did The Crime, I Did Crazy Things’
A South Bend, Indiana, man is behind bars after breaking into two apartments at approximately 7:00 p.m. Sunday night and murdering the individuals that lived inside. A neighbor that reported the strange crime stated that the man was completely naked and armed with a handgun. The assailant pointed the handgun at the neighbor and pulled the trigger, but the weapon did not fire. The neighbor ran away to call the police. When the officers arrived, they found that the naked man had broken into an apartment and murdered the two residents inside.
The assailant, identified as 49-year-old Roy Lee Walker, stands 6? 4? and weighs 211 pounds, according to WNDU TV. He broke into the apartments of 46-year-old Robert Duke and 43-year-old Michelle Blankenship and shot each of them. During the course of the event, he threatened to kill a father of three that heard shouting outside his door and entered the hallway to see what was happening. Walker was naked, holding a screwdriver in one hand at the time, and shouted at the man, saying the following.
“I’ma shoot you too.”
The man ran back into his apartment, locked the door, and secured his children in a back room.
Police were quickly able to apprehend Walker after he fled the scene. According to WNDU TV, Walker stole the female victim’s car and crashed into multiple parked cars during his escape. When he was apprehended, he was wearing a tan shirt, two pairs of jeans, and his feet were completely bare. Tim Corbett, of the St. Joseph Metro Homicide Unit, stated that the apprehension was fairly quick.
“During the course of this investigation the victim, that the female victim’s vehicle was stolen. I shouldn’t say stolen, the victim’s car was taken because he was familiar with her. It was involved in a crash at St. Joseph and Chippewa where the subject ran from the vehicle. South Bend Police were able to find him, secure him and take him down to the hospital.”
Corbett went on to explain that the apprehension took place no more than an hour and a half after the crime. When they pulled him from the car, he had a rope tied around his neck and he yelled at the officers to arrest him, or he would run.
Results from his examination at the hospital were not released. However, WSBT TV reports that Roy Lee Walker did admit to the murder of both individuals while there.
“I did the crime. I did crazy things. I am ready to go, so take me. I just want some peace.”
Walker is being charged with two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, and residential entry. At this time, he is not being charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, since he is thought to have known the woman. Instead, they are classifying it as just using her car for the getaway.
